Ecosistema del emprendimiento tecnológico: una propuesta

Guillermo Andrés Zapata-Huamaní, Sara Fernández-Lopéz, Isabel Neira-Gómez

Abstract

Title: "Ecosystem of technological entrepreneurship: a proposal"

Abstract

Purpose: Develop an own ecosystem proposal for technological entrepreneurship (ET).

Design/methodology/approach: Based on the ecosystem approach, the one developed by Isenberg (2011) for high-growth entrepreneurship is followed in a general framework. To identify the elements that constitute the ecosystem of ET we have analyzed studies on regional determinants of ET, mainly that of Venkataraman (2004) and Xue and Klein (2010).

Results: As a result we have obtained six elements: Government and business commitment, Availability of funding sources, Idiosyncratic change, Technological support, Training-work reorientation and Access to contact and collaboration networks.

Originality/value: The work makes the first ET ecosystem proposal. This represents an advance in ET-centered literature by allowing the context as a whole to be treated as a determinant of ET, as well as to analyze contextual factors systematically. In addition, it is a great contribution for policy makers who have to promote such entrepreneurship in their regions since, by identifying different factors that simultaneously encourage the creation of NEBT, they can act on them together and achieve greater synergies.

Keywords: Entrepreneurship; technological entrepreneurship; New Technology Base Company (NEBT); context; ecosystem.
