MÁS ALLÁ DEL MOVIMIENTO ASOCIATIVO: OPORTUNIDADES DE LAS AGENCIAS DE VIAJES EN TURISMO ACCESIBLE
Abstract

Title: "Beyond the Associative Movement: Opportunities of Travel Agencies in Accessible Tourism"
Abstract
Purpose:To present a comparative analysis of the offer of travel agencies specialized in accessible tourism with the “Tourism and Thermalism for People with Disabilities” program of IMSERSO to detect competitive advantage factors.
Methodology: From a qualitative approach, a content analysis of web pages of 10 travel agencies has been carried out. The selection criteria were based on their specialization in accessible tourism and their services in Spain. The following categories were considered in the analysis: disabilities, travel, destinations, activities, wealth of information and services. Finally, an analysis of similarities and differences between the trips offered by the agencies and those within the IMSERSO program was carried out.
Results: The differentiating characteristics of accessible travel agencies are the following: individualized guidance, versatility and specialized services. The hard planning required by your customers can translate into a great travel cost. Competitive prices are achieved by having a network of contacts in the different destinations that check the requirements; for offering previously tested packages; for being receiving agencies in destination.
Limitations / implications: One of the limitations of the study is the lack of interviews with the managers of these travel agencies to contrast the information and understand the operation of your business. For future research it would be interesting to know the situation of accessible tourism agencies in other countries with other contexts.
Originality / value: This article has originally contributed to the understanding of the competitive advantage factors of travel agencies specialized in accessible tourism in Spain, a country where public subsidies are offered for the integration of people with disabilities in tourism.
